Robert "Pots" Pizzonia is a member of Empire HOG who raises hundreds of large, colorful canna lilies in his yard and offers them for donations, which go to the foundation that funds research and family services for children with brain tumors. Gardening helps Robert fill his time since he retired from the fire department. When he began asking fellow bikers at HOG meetings to donate for the flowers three or four years ago, he thought he would sell one or two. They were a hit ! People donated $1,400.00 for about 130 of the plants. The money is taken to the annual benefit ride held by the Hudson Valley Harley Riders Group which is held in Central Valley, NY. Motorcycle rides across the country bring in money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, based in Asheville, NC . The Hudson Valley Chapter of HOG has donated almost $102,000.00.
